This Privacy Policy explains how flipZen ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the flipZen mobile app and related services.
1. Who we are

2. Information we collect
Account information
If you create an account, we collect:
- Email address
- Display name
- Optional profile photo
- Authentication data from your sign-in provider (email/password, Apple, or Google)
App usage data
To provide core features, we store:
- Focus session records (start/end time, duration, mode, difficulty, outcome)
- Progress and streak-related statistics derived from your sessions
- Profile preferences such as language and reminder settings
Leaderboard data
If you use the community leaderboard, your display name and aggregated focus totals may be visible to other authenticated users. We do not show your email address on the leaderboard.
Subscription information
Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We use RevenueCat to verify subscription status and unlock premium features. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.
Device and local data
On your device, the app may:
- Use the accelerometer to detect when your phone is face-down or lifted
- Store small preferences locally (for example onboarding state)
- Schedule optional local notifications if you enable reminders
3. How we use information
We use your information to:
- Provide and improve the flipZen app
- Sync your sessions and profile across devices when you are signed in
- Manage subscriptions and premium access
- Respond to support requests
- Maintain security and prevent abuse
4. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)
Where applicable, we process personal data based on:
- Contract — to provide the app and your account
- Legitimate interests — to secure and improve the service
- Consent — where required, for example optional notifications
5. Service providers
We rely on trusted processors, including:
- Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage
- RevenueCat — subscription management
- Apple — App Store billing and Sign in with Apple
- Google — Google Sign-In (if you choose it)
These providers process data on our behalf according to their own privacy policies and our agreements with them.
6. Data retention
We keep your account and session data while your account is active. When you delete your account in the app, we delete associated profile and session data from our servers, subject to reasonable backup retention periods.
7. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access, correct, or delete your personal data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Withdraw consent where processing is consent-based
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

8. Children
flipZen is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
9. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Your data may be processed in countries other than your own, including where our service providers operate. We take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards where required by law.
11. Tracking and advertising
flipZen does not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and change the "Last updated" date above.
